Frequently Asked Questions
What does the consultation consist of?  Is there a charge for this?

You and I will schedule a time when I can come to your home and meet with you and your pet(s).  At this time,  we will discuss the
particulars of the sitting & exactly what you are looking for.  I will also have you fill out a few forms detailing information about your pet(s).
A consultation must be scheduled, at least, 1 week before service is needed.
During the consultation, I will answer all your questions, and provide any information that you need (pet sitter insurance, pet first aid
certificate,  & references).  This time also gives me and your pet(s) a chance to get to know each other.
The consultation is free of charge, however, if you feel you would like 2 meetings, there will be a $10 service fee.
Do you board pets in your home?

I do not provide boarding services.  In order for me to give your pets the highest quality care, I feel it is important for them to stay in their
familiar environment.
What if my pet gets sick or injured while in your care?

During our consultation, you will provide me with your veterinarian's contact information.  I will transport your pet to your vet, and contact
you immediately.  You will also be signing a veterinary release form, so that I can supply all necessary information to the vet.  If possible,
I would like for you to choose a local emergency animal hospital in case your preferred vet is unavailable.  I have a preferred vet on
hand, as well.  If there is an immediate emergency, your pet will be taken to the nearest animal hospital at which time you will be
contacted immediately.
What hours are you available by phone?

If you are away, and have a pet in my care, please call anytime.  I understand the need to know how our little ones are doing.  If I am
away from my phone, please leave a message and I will return your call immediately.  We can also make prior arrangements before
you leave as to what time of day would be best to call.

If you are calling for a pet sitting appointment, office hours are from 7:30am to 8:00pm Monday-Thursday,  Friday 8am to 6pm, &
9:00am to 4pm Saturday & Sunday.  If I am unavailable to answer my phone, please leave a voice message and I will return your call
as soon as possible.
All dog grooming appointments must be made, at least, 1 week in advance.

Do you care for pets with special needs?

I understand that all dogs require different types of care, however, I am not a veterinarian.  I have experience with dogs suffering from
congestive heart failure,  Megaesophagus dogs, pets who are blind, deaf, arthritic, and elderly pets.  I will also administer oral
medications.
I do
NOT give insulin shots. If your pet is diabetic, I recommend finding a pet sitter or boarding facility who specialize in diabetic
animals.  If you need help finding someone to care for your diabetic pet, please feel free to call me and I will do my best to help you
locate someone who may be able to help you.  Or you can visit
PSI, a pet sitter locater that can be of assistance to you.
What is the difference between pet sitters and boarding kennels?

Everyone goes away at times, and not all places allow our precious pets to come along.  In such cases, people must find good care for their furry
baby (or babies) while they are away.  There are good boarding kennels that will provide first rate care for your pets.  They provide feeding,
walking, playtime, and love.  Pet sitters, however, provide that and much more.  We will give your pets one on one attention in their own home, so
they will feel comfortable in their familiar surroundings.  Also, pets stick to their routines.  Many pets will wake up at a particular time in the
morning and know it is time for a walk.  They also know their feeding, playtime, and napping times.  We, as pet sitters, do our very best to keep
your pet on their same schedule.  Your pet will not have to adjust to new routines or surroundings.  With a pet sitter, your pet is not exposed to
illnesses, parasites, or diseases from other animals.  Furthermore, along with your pet receiving highest quality care, your home is also watched
over and cared for.  We will take in your mail, throw out garbage, rotate your blinds, & give your home a more "lived in" look from the outside.
These are a few of the differences between taking your pet to a kennel or choosing an experienced pet sitter.
